This is an important topic in the bunny world. Its super important to feed your bunny the right foods since bunnies are super sensitive! In this blogpost I will name frequent foods which you can feed your bunny daily, weekly or should never feed/are poisonous.
Information mostly from proKaninchen, this post does not cover all sorts of food but it covers a lot!
cucumber (high in water)
carrots (high in sugar)
fresh carrot herbs
kohlrabi (any kind of kale is bloating)
All fruits are high in sugar so only feed occasionally as a treat!
Pineapple, apple, banana, pear, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, kiwi, mandarins, melons, orages, grapes, papaya, cherry, peach, nectarine, plum (core is toxic!)
Herbs, wild plants, branches, leaves
hazelnut branches and leaves
grass (high grass from a graze)
Toxic wild- ornamental- and homeplants
Make sure you keep all plants away from your bunny, for safety!
Ficus, ivy, dieffenbachia, any kind of yews, angel trumpet, lilac, laburnum, green tomatoes and tomato herb, fools parsley, potato herb, oleander, alocasia, acanthus, thuja, belladonna, hemlock
General stuff which is bad
Sugar, milk, yoghurt, salt (salt licks), chocolate, bread, treated branches (found in baskets), painted wood, cords, too much cardboard, cheap cereal like bunny food from the store and any super processed food.
Important! If you introduce your bunny to something new, always do it really slowly and only in tiny amounts. You can slowly give more as time goes by. Giving too much new food can lead to bloating and stomach problems!
