Self-made bunny treats

Here is a super easy and fast recipe on how you can make your own and unique treats for your bunnies! We got inspired to do this from a lot of bunny accounts on instagram and combined recipes.

What you will need:

  • Some type of critical care or any kind of pellets which are crushable
  • Their favorite fruit and/or veggies
  • (optional) small pieces of hay or small herbs
  • (in some cases) water
  • Oven, may require surveillance by a parent

Lets begin

First off preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius. Then depending if you use some sort of critical care or pellets, you will make powder out of the pellets by blending them or just beating them into crumbs. You can now get a big bowl ready and put the pellet powder in there. Now you can also ad small hay pieces or/and herbs to it (better are smaller pieces that I used). Now you cut up or mash up the favorite fruit and/or veggie of your bunny to mix it into the mixture. Depending of the consistency now, should be slightly wet but sticky, you may need to add a little water. The consistency is often good when you use kind of moist fruits or veggies such as banana or carrot. In my case I used parsnip and added a little bit of water until it sticked together and I could form some sort of shape in my hand.

Depending on the consistency you can make all sorts of forms. Make sure you place them far enough from each other so they do not stick together. Also make sure too use a baking sheet so everything stays clean. If you are a child please ask your parents for help because you will need to put it in the hot oven now. 180 degrees celsius for 30 minutes. After those 30 minutes are done, turn off the oven and let the treats in the oven for another 30 minutes to dry completely. Then take them out and let them cool completely before feeding to your bunnies.

Enjoy
